Want to meet up?

I'd love it if this trip could be a way for me to keep in touch and reconnect with friends and family.

If you are interested in getting together, it won't be too difficult, but will require a degree of coordination: we know when I will hiking, we know where I will be hiking, but we don't know exactly where I will be at a given time.

Please get in touch if you have a vague idea of when you might want to get together! I'll have the ability to send and receive messages and my location over satellite to make things easier (you will need a specific app).

As I learn through trial (and hopefully not error), I'll update this page.

Some ways we can get together include, but aren't limited to:

  1. Hiking together

This can range from a portion of a day to multiple days.

There's a small but mighty tourism industry close to most of the trail. Notably, this includes plenty of hiker hostels offering shuttles, showers, and beds. These hostels, by all accounts, seem to be fantastic resources for facilitating these sorts of logistics.

  1. Meet on or near the trail, but not for hiking

The trail is within a couple hour drive of so much of the east coast. There are plenty of road crossings, trailheads with parking, and towns close to the trail. We could grab a meal or spend a night somewhere new. Have you always wanted to visit Gatlinburg Tennessee? I can't think of a better time!

  1. I'll come to you

If you live within a public transportation route or uber friendly distance away from the trail, I'd happily come visit. If you offer me a place to sleep for the night, a shower, and laundry, I'll be forever in your debt.

I'm planning on taking breaks in both DC and NYC.
